Canton has set up a COVID-19 Resource Center hotline, 734/394-5440 intended to be used as a request for emergency resources for individuals who are homebound, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Those needing assistance are encouraged to leave their name, phone number, and what assistance is being requested (i.e. food, toiletries, non-narcotic medical supplies, etc.) This line is not intended for medical advice or financial assistance.
The Center is also designed to receive and coordinate offers of help from those in the position to provide assistance. In order to respond to these requests, Canton Public Safety and representative volunteers are offering a ‘porch pick-up’ of non-perishable items at this time, including things like Ensure, as well as toiletries. If you are able to donate these items, please call 734/394-5440 or email email@example.com with your address. Volunteers will collect these items from known addresses on Fridays, 9 am-12 noon.
A Resource Center representative will return each call with follow up questions and information, and all calls will be logged and tracked.

Michigan Paycheck Protection Program - Lt. Governor Gilchrist and former Lt. Governor Calley team up to announce coalition to support small businesses, improve access to forgivable federal loans.
Work Share PDF Download – The Governor’s Unemployment Insurance Executive Order expands the State’s Work Share program. Employers are encouraged to implement the program that permits employers to maintain operational productivity during declines in regular business activity instead of laying off workers. It’s important to note that the E.O. now allows all employers to take advantage of the program, regardless of whether the employer’s reserve in the employer’s experience account as of the most recent computation date preceding the date of the employer’s application is a positive number.
Small Business Loans (Economic Disaster Loan) - Governor Whitmer is seeking additional solutions for small businesses impacted by COVID-19. Earlier this month, Congress passed legislation that makes $1 billion available to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide low-interest loans to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, and nonprofits that have suffered substantial economic losses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The governor has informed SBA that she is seeking an Economic Injury Disaster Loan Declaration for the state and has initiated the process to receive the declaration from SBA. Once granted, small businesses in qualifying areas will be able to access low-interest loans through the SBA. In the interim, we are encouraging small businesses that could benefit from SBA loans to start collecting the information they’ll need to complete and submit their application.
