Area seniors are invited to enter the Second Annual Canton Senior Games, which are scheduled to take place August 22-25, 2017, at various locations in the Canton community. A variety of fun and challenging activities for men and women age 55 and older will be available during these four days of competition.
Canton Club 55+ will offer a variety of events in which seniors may compete in for a nominal fee for a chance to win in their age categories: 55-64; 65-74; and 75 and older.
“Last year’s inaugural games were a huge success and drew over 170 competitors,” said Recreation Specialist Stephanie Diago. “This type of event is a testament to the many benefits of seniors maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle, and we are thrilled to bring them back.”
This year’s events include: Sports Tournaments (Golf, Pickleball Doubles, Tennis Doubles, Billiards); Cards/Wii Games (Euchre, Pinochle, Mahjong, Hand & Foot, Wii Bowling, Trivia, ); Field Games (Bean Bag Toss, Bocce Ball Toss, Ring Toss, Softball Throw, Football Toss, Basketball Shot).
Competitions will take place throughout Canton at: Pheasant Run Golf Club, Summit on the Park, Heritage Park, Freedom Park and Griffin Park.
Registration is now available online at www.cantonfun.org or in person at the Canton Club 55+ front desk, located in the Summit on the Park at 46000 Summit Parkway in Canton, MI. All participants must register by Friday, August 11, 2017. Registration fees are as follows:
An awards ceremony has been scheduled for Friday, August 25, 2017 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at the Summit on the Park Maple/Oak Room, located at 46000 Summit Parkway. Participants can take part in the boxed lunch for just $8 for Canton residents and $10 for non-residents.
